HUMPBACK WHALES ARRIVE AT THE PACIFIC COAST TO RESTART LIFE

BOOK HERE
THE MIGRATION
Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) migrate each year from their feeding grounds in the Southern Hemisphere to the warm, coastal waters of the Colombian Pacific, especially in Chocó, Colombia, where they arrive between June and November to reproduce and give birth. In bays, estuaries, and coastal areas of the Chocó Pacific, mothers with calves find protected waters for courtship, calving, and the first stage of nursing before returning to their feeding areas. These areas in Chocó are key to the conservation of the species and present great potential for responsible whale tourism, which promotes sustainable observation, respect for the animals, vessel safety, and benefits for local communities. To ensure the survival of humpback whales in Colombia, it is essential to mitigate threats such as maritime traffic, pollution, incidental fishing, and habitat loss, incorporating responsible tourism practices in the Colombian Pacific.

THE PLACE

Punta Brava is formulated as a pilot project, with the objective of promoting development. The general objective of this project is to create alternative sources of income for the community through productive projects that make sustainable use of the region's natural resources and the particular forms of knowledge of the population. These projects must be ecological, use raw materials from the region, and promote the active participation of diverse families from the local community.

A unique place located at one end of the Colombian Pacific Coast
in the department of Chocó, municipality of Nuquí, where the tropical rainforest and the Pacific Ocean meet in their maximum splendor, offering visitors the opportunity to experience virgin nature, jungle vegetation, extremely high streams of crystalline freshwater, and the imposing Pacific Ocean. This experience is unique thanks to its location, far from populated areas and high-impact tourist centers.
The hotel has 6 beautiful rooms (single or double) with capacity for 12 people. The rooms have a private bathroom and a terrace that offers direct contact with nature.
Each house has a terrace where you can rest in hammocks and watch whales from land.
We also have two private cabins with two bedrooms each and a private bathroom, giving us a total capacity for 22 people.

WHALE WATCHING FROM LAND
We have observation decks to watch whales in the most respectful and sustainable way. Our geographical position (on the rocky cliffs) and the depth of the coast give us the possibility of seeing whales that pass close to the coast without the need to be in a boat. Without noise, without smoke, without seasickness, and above all without disturbing the whales, we can enjoy watching them and enjoy their company.

WHALE PLAN:

3 or 4 nights' stay at Punta Brava, with 3 meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages included. Transportation Nuquí – Punta Brava – Nuquí (boat) and insurance. Our guests will enjoy two whale-watching excursions around the Cabo Corrientes area, visit the Punta Brava waterfall, and experience descending by chingo down the Arusicito River to the sea (this last activity only for the 4-night plan).
