Graphic and Botanical is a 5-day journey for a small group of travelers willing to slow down and let the landscape of MONTÉS SAMANÁ introduce them to another way of being. The proposal is based on situated cognition and relational ecology approaches: attention and creativity emerge from interaction with a living territory. That is why we work with fine observation and analogous creation processes.
We explore the botany of the forest to find our own raw materials and create pigments by hand. From there, we develop graphic pieces using analogous printing techniques. These practices serve as a vehicle to sustain a deep and concrete dialogue about art as an individual and collective tool: a way to question our interaction with the world and recognize its beauty.

LINA VELEZ
Throughout my career, I have worked on projects as a graphic designer, producer, and manager. For the past 3 years, I have been researching and implementing artisanal graphic processes. Nature inspires me, as do the real and imaginary forms that accompany us. I love sharing what I have learned along the way and creating spaces for people with similar interests to connect. I believe in the transformative potential of working with one's hands, and therefore, I practice and teach it.
I have a fascination with the forms of nature. I let myself be seduced by it.
I feel the need to treasure plants. They remind me that the most beautiful things have already been created and that it is not necessary to create something new if we have not yet reacted to or even seen what already exists around us.
Sometimes, when something is taken out of context to be viewed from another perspective, or simply out of curiosity or admiration... things happen.

I am a biologist, photographer, naturalist, and plant enthusiast. I have had the opportunity to explore incredible forests and jungles, and I want to share all the knowledge they have given me with those who join us in our graphic and botanical workshop at Montes 2026.
In this gathering, we will immerse ourselves deeply in nature, where colors will be the protagonists. We will experiment with roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and rocks, seeking to learn from the nuances of the forest.
We will gather to learn and share knowledge about paints, from the very origin of cultures to their current use.
We will have pleasant conversations and talks about color that will allow us to learn about its evolution and use; additionally, we will visit the forest in search of our own raw materials to create our pigments by hand.
